Jon opened the doors of Core Performance back in 2014 as the first (and largest) CrossFit gym in the area.
Although currently unaffiliated from the CrossFit brand, the space continues to benefit from a huge range of quality equipment as Jon strives to provide his members and the team with one of the best, and covid safe, training facilities here in Bedford.

Jon’s background is in rugby, playing for teams including London Wasps as a fresh faced 19 year old, Auckland varsity New Zealand and Bedford Blues later on in his rugby career. He has worked in the fitness industry for many years, gaining invaluable experience as well as an abundance of qualifications including a degree in Sport and Exercise Science. With this in-depth knowledge, he makes an excellent mentor to his team.

Jon is constantly on the go with the day to day running of the gym. You will find him jumping in to coach classes, always on hand to offer advice and help to members, and training his clients 1-1. It’s also not uncommon to see him around the gym with a vacuum cleaner in hand!

Starting out as a regular member back in 2015, Kierran knew that this is where he wanted to be.

With having zero background in health fitness, it was through heavy trial, error and passion that Kierran is where he is today. Having trained with world champion weightlifters and becoming a British weightlifting coach to gaining multiple gymnastic credentials, anything that requires a great deal of technique and control is what Kierran loves to coach and teach.

Having taught kids as young as 5 up to members aged over 70, competed at numerous events both by himself and in a team as well as hosted multiple competitions at the gym, coached members with disabilities to the top 10% athletes in the world, Kierran values every member, regardless of ability or experience.

Dan joined us first as a member, and then later joined the coaching team.

Over the years, by his own admission, Dan always struggled with his own weight and health. Through taking control and starting a fitness regime and changing his nutrition Dan eventually found his body confidence and with it a passion for health and fitness. Leading him to become a qualified Personal Trainer,
Crossfit Level 1 and PFCA Functional Fitness Coach.
If he could learn to change this dramatically for himself, he knew he could help people achieve the same; to set and reach their own goals and feel that confidence in their own body that everyone should.

Dan loves to share his experiences and use them to help with his coaching with other people. His enthusiasm is contagious when coaching the classes and is our regular coach on our Sunday smash!!

Mel has been involved with the Core Performance community since the day it opened…initially as a member, and then becoming an integral part of the personal training team as well as coaching classes.

Mel has over 20 years of training experience and knowledge and has a good understanding of the physical and psychological challenges we all face.
Mel is always smiling, and has a friendly, kind and encouraging approach to her coaching.

She knows nutrition is a key element to enhancing health, energy and performance, and is currently expanding her knowledge and expertise around this area with an in-depth nutrition course.

Mel’s fundamental goal as a coach and Personal Trainer is to enable people to lead a healthier, more balanced lifestyle by helping people to develop positive new habits, increasing strength, resilience, and confidence, both mentally and physically.

Heidi started as part of our membership team but having already been doing CrossFit locally for several years, coupled with her love for fitness, meant we couldn’t keep her shut in an office for long!

She soon completed the level 1 CrossFit coaching course, then going on to recently qualify as a personal trainer. Heidi now heads up our member relations team, looking after new and current members. Her friendly and personable approach is integral to the team at Core Performance and ensures everyone feels welcome.

She is supportive and attentive to new members and understands how scary it can be walking into a new gym. She goes out of her way to help everyone settle in. She has been known to meet new members in the car park on their first day and join in with their first class as a friendly (and smiling) face alongside them.

Heidi also manages and organises our community and charity events which are always a big success.

She loves it when members overcome something that they thought they could never do and passionately believes that our gym and taking part in fitness and training is for everyone, whatever age, shape or size. Heidi truly believes everyone is capable in achieving the goals they set.

Lisa is one of our longest standing members here at Core Performance.
With her friendly and happy personality she is very popular.
Lisa’s passion is running, so after completing a running ‘coach the coach’ training course we wanted to set up a run club for her to lead, which she loves, especially seeing improvements from people that have never run before completing their first mile to more established runners improving their technique or timings!

Lisa’s positivity is infectious, and you’ll definitely know when she’s in the gym because you’ll hear her laugh!

Michelle has always been into exercise and fitness, however she only discovered her yoga journey fairly recently after meeting two wonderful local yoga teachers. She fell in love with this way of life 6-7 years ago, and has never looked back. After travelling to India, for an intense ashtanga/vinyasa yttc, she then returned to tentatively start teaching, including running the small group yoga here at Core Performance and her confidence has grown.

Michelle has a soft, gentle and kind approach, but don’t be fooled, she’ll help you push your boundaries!
Her online classes are available to book through TeamUp. If you need a good stretch and some relaxation, then her restorative yoga on either a Wednesday and Friday evening isn’t one to be missed!

Michelle is constantly deepening her knowledge, including meditation, yoga nidra, Tantric Hatha, and more. Once lockdown is over and it’s safe to travel again Michelle plans to return to India and visit Bali to continue that learning. In the meantime, she continues her daily yoga practice and couldn’t imagine life without it.
